T22 Young Adult Residential Program

Ivy Street’s mission is to promote healing, skill development and opportunities for community building in neurodivergent adolescents, young adults and their families. This work is critical at the time of transition for young adults with disabilities: when they leave their supportive high school environment and face the complex world of adult services. The skill and knowledge gap within this transition widens for young adults with complex needs. Many young adults find that accessing adult services requires a high level of independence.
Ivy Street’s T22 program bridges this gap by providing more support to young adults who are transitioning between school and adulthood. A residential program for young adults, we offer a therapeutic setting that promotes essential skills for living in the community. Our work includes skills for independent living, self-management, interdependence and self-determination. The T22 program provides short-term support (3-5 years) for skill development and a scaffolded transition to longer-term adult service supports and providers.
Our Occupational Therapists work one-on-one with clients in the spaces that matter most: their own homes and communities. This home-based approach allows us to support our clients in practicing the essential skills, habits, and routines they need in their daily lives.
Life at T22
Weekdays
During the daytime on Monday through Friday, residents attend day programming, engage in work or volunteering, attend postsecondary opportunities, etc.
Weekday Evenings
From the late afternoon and into the evening, residents spend leisure time, engage with the community, work on developing skills, and attend appointments.
Weekends
Weekends include time for skill development, working on daily living tasks like meal planning and grocery shopping, and leisure opportunities.
Who We Serve
Our residence is open to female or nonbinary residents ages 22-26 who are supported by DDS or DMH. Diagnostic profiles may include intellectual impairment, mental health diagnoses, ASD, neurologically based diagnoses, or chronic health conditions. They are able to engage in collaborative efforts to live with peers, and they complete self-care and home management tasks with some assistance.
Our Home
Our T22 residence is an apartment in Boston. The apartment has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and has an accessible entrance. Its location allows access to all that Boston has to offer, as well as convenient travel to and from Ivy Street School.
